So, it has been a bit of time since I last BLOGGED. I have been inspired by all the information I have gleaned in the past 2 months. I went to the No More Homeless Pets conference in Las Vegas and I also went to the Found Animals Forum in Los Angeles. WOW! there are so many inspiring people in the animal rescue and shelter world!! It is amazing what the Animal Farm Foundation is doing for Pit Bulls. I was so impressed by PAWS Chicago and the amazing change in shelter euthanasia they have made in such a short amount of time. Found Animal is always inspiring and refreshing to see how active they are in changing the attitudes for a huge city like Los Angeles. Seeing how smaller shelters can truly change life for homeless animals was encouraging. The Longmont Humane shelter and the Sounthampton shelter are great examples of the successes smaller shelters can have. I loved seeing Mike Kaviani from the Southhampton shelter speak at No More Homeless Pets, considering I was working at the shelter that started it all for him back in the day. :)
Now the question is.......What can I do? What can I do to help animals in shelters, spread awareness, reduce overpopulation? I feel the desire to connect people with animals and start them on their journey together. My matchmaking idea is growing! With a few more plans I can get the ball rolling!!! whooohooooo!
